Founder Story
As a stay-at-home mom of two lively boys, navigating Christmas gift -giving was challenging. While my work with adults with disabilities helped cover the bills , the festive season aften left little room for extras. Yet, every year, my creative instincts kicked in, and in 2007, Froggers Chocolate was born.
The idea struck when I pondered the delightful combination of chocolate and jube jubes. Armed with nothing but a double boiler and two forks, I dove into experimentation. (Remarkably, those same humble tools still serve me well nineteen years later.) But then came the question: how to package these creations? Drawing on my ingenuity, I crafted elegant solutions with clear boxes and organza ribbons from my favorite Calgary packaging store. That year, everyone in our circle received a taste of my homemade chocolates for Christmas.
It wasn't until a post-holiday dinner with our friend Dave, a local plumber, that the seeds of a business were truly planted. His enthusiastic endorsement of my chocolates sparked a realization: why not turn this passion into profession? Inspired by his encouragement and the desire to offer something special to the community, Froggers Chocolate became more than just a kitchen experiment.
The name "Froggers" is a nod to the tree frogs that were a fixture in our household at the time-whimsical touch that reflected the
spirit of our endeavour.
Unlike many businesses, Froggers Chocolate thrived
soley on word-of-mouth referrals for over a decade.
From hockey events and parent gatherings to weddings
and corporate orders, our chocolates found their way
into the hearts (and taste buds) of a growing clientele.
In 2019, my husband and I boldly decided to relocate to Canal Flats, BC, embracing a new chapter while ensuring that Froggers Chocolate continued to delight our loyal customers in Calgary and beyond. Today, our chocolates grace the shelves of stores across the valley, from Radium to Canal Flats, and we've become a beloved fixture at the Kimberley market.
The warm reception from our new community has been incredily gratifying. While the transition from bustling Calgary to the slower pace of the Valley brought its own set of adjustments, connecting with customers face-to-face (whether at our door or at the market) has been a joyous reminder of the personal touch that sets Froggers Chocolate apart.
